This is my first DIY tutorial on my youtube channel!

For a beginning, this DIY project is very basic, simple and fun-to-make. Wall-hanging decoration never seems to be out of trend, it’s cute and no sewing needed. It’s also relaxing to make if you have partners to do the project with. If you have kids, this is an easy art project to teach them creativity.

Productivity Tips: Personal Logbook

Have you ever felt, in the year end, like you haven’t done nor achieved anything that year? “Crap! It’s December already? Where did it go?”

I’ve been in that situation several times, one of my weaknesses before was that I didn’t appreciate the meaning and importance of a process. Like most millenials, I like instant things that doesn’t take long and a lot of stuffs to do. However, I’ve learned the only shortcut to success, for whatever your goals are, is consistency and commitment to what you have to do to achieve the goals. Big goals are achieved by doing the little daily goals. I’ve come to the point when I realized that all the successful people I know in my life are NOT talented people, but those who are hardworking, patiently and consistently do what they ought to do. I used to believe in talent, now I don’t believe there’s such thing anymore.

You can’t suddenly finish a writing and publish a book in one day. You can’t build your muscles in a week. A clear, smooth skin over night. Lose/ gain weight healthily in a week. That’s impossible things to achieve unless you opt plastic surgeries. And all instant things are dangerous; instant fame, noodles, beauty, etc.

Hence I need to form habits and keep a track of it to keep my focus. I make a logbook of my daily goals. Of course I can’t do all the things in one day, but I have to do it regularly as often as possible. Making personal logbook is also advised by Austen Kleon in Steal Like an Artist that we should not underestimate writing one page each day, because in a year, that’s enough to make a 365 page-book.

I use bullet points system to create the journal. Not only it helps me to stay in track and productive, it’s also a relaxing creative outlet. First, I started with listing all the habits I want to form. Make columns like below, check each daily goal with colorful markers.

I also make tracks of little achievements in a month, it doesn’t have to be a big thing like winning a Grammy or a Nobel Prize. Little things like finishing reading books, watching good movies, etc are good way to start.

You can make your own templates, or you can also use logbook templates from Pinterest. But remember, honesty is needed to fill the journals. Don’t color if you didn’t do that in a day, week or month. You don’t need to lie, you’re not in a competition.
